1. Introduction

Dez Appliances Inc. is an appliance repair and service business. We take delivery of appliances, diagnose faults, order parts, carry out repairs, review warranty matters and return appliances to their owners. In doing that work we receive information about people, about their homes and about the machines they rely on. This policy sets out what we collect, why we collect it, how we keep it and what choices you have.

We have written this policy in plain language on purpose. Appliance repair is a practical trade and the privacy promises that support it should be equally practical. Where the law gives you a right, this policy names it. Where we rely on something other than a legal obligation, we say so. Where a question remains unanswered, our contact details are at the end.

The company is Dez Appliances Inc., located at Suite 3, 801 West 1st St, North Vancouver - V7P 1A4, Canada (CA). The workshop phone number is +18289996221 and the contact email address is note@dezappliances.lat. This policy applies to information collected through this website, through phone calls, through email, in person at the workshop and during collection and delivery visits.

2. Scope of This Policy

This policy covers personal information handled by Dez Appliances Inc. in the course of providing appliance services. It covers information about customers, prospective customers, property managers, tenants, building caretakers and anyone else who contacts the bench or receives an appliance from it.

The policy does not cover information that you share with other businesses, even when those businesses are mentioned on this website or worked with during a repair. If a manufacturer, landlord or insurer receives information from you directly, their own privacy practices apply to that exchange.

The policy also does not cover anonymous or aggregated information that cannot reasonably be linked back to a person. We may use aggregated counts of appliance types or fault categories to plan our bench stock and staffing, and that summary data contains no details that identify anyone.

This website is intended for a general audience. It is available to visitors who wish to learn about the bench, the services offered and the ways to make contact. Nothing on the site requires you to create an account or to submit information before browsing.

3. Information We Collect

We collect information in four broad situations: when you contact us, when an appliance arrives at the bench, when we deliver an appliance to an address, and when you pay for work. The amount and type of information depends on the service involved.

3.1 Information you give us directly

When you call, email or use the contact form, we receive the details you choose to share. That normally includes your name, an email address, a phone number, the address where the appliance is located, the make and model of the appliance and a description of the fault. You may also share access instructions, such as a buzzer code, a lift booking or a note that a dog is friendly but noisy.

3.2 Information created during service

When an appliance arrives at the bench, we create an intake tag and a service sheet. These records include the make, model and serial numbers of the appliance, photographs of its condition on arrival, readings taken during diagnosis, parts ordered and fitted, and the final test result. The records also include the name and contact details of the person who arranged the work.

3.3 Information from payment

When work is paid for, we record the amount charged, the invoice number, the date and the payment method used. We do not store full card numbers in our systems. Where payment is taken through a payment provider, the provider handles the sensitive card data and shares only a confirmation reference with us.

3.4 Information from the website

When you visit this website, our hosting service records standard technical information such as the browser type, the pages requested and the approximate time of the request. This information supports security and reliability and does not identify you by name on its own.

4. Intake Tags and Service Sheets

The intake tag and the service sheet are the backbone of the bench. The tag lets every technician know which appliance is which, and the sheet records what has been done. Together they contain service information about an appliance and contact information about its owner.

The tag usually carries a short reference, the bay letter, the model and serial numbers and a short fault description. Photographs taken at intake capture the outside condition of the unit, including any damage that arrived with it. The sheet carries the diagnostic readings, the parts information and the signed steps of the repair.

We keep these records because a repair history is useful long after the repair ends. A warranty review round may need to consult the original readings. A later visit may need to know which part was fitted last time. A delivery dispute may need to know how the appliance looked when it arrived. The records are also the basis of the copy we give to you at collection.

Access to the bench archive is limited to staff who need it for service, warranty or accounting work. Copies are not sold, and copies are not shared with appliance manufacturers unless a warranty claim requires it and you have been told at the time.

5. How We Use Information

We use personal information to carry out the work you have asked for and to keep the bench running properly. The main uses are set out below.

We do not use your information to build advertising profiles, and we do not sell customer lists. We do not combine website technical logs with service records to identify individual visitors, because there is no operational need to do so.

7. Sharing With Others

We share personal information only when there is a clear reason and only to the extent needed. The categories of recipient are limited and are described below.

Parts suppliers receive the appliance model, the part number and the delivery address for the workshop. They do not receive your home address or personal contact details, because the parts come to the bench rather than to you. Appliance manufacturers may receive service details when a warranty claim is being prepared, and we will tell you when that happens.

Accounting and payment providers receive the information needed to process an invoice, which is normally the customer name, the invoice total and a payment reference. Delivery crew members receive the delivery address, access notes and the contact number needed on the day, and nothing more.

We may disclose information where the law requires it, where a court order compels it, or where disclosure is necessary to protect the safety of a person or to defend a legal claim. If we are ever required to disclose information in a way that is not routine, we will do what the law allows to tell you about it.

8. Service Partners and Suppliers

Some repairs require a specialist. A control board may need bench-level electronics work, a sealed drum may need a bearing press that sits with a partner shop, and a gas range may need a licensed technician for the gas side of the work. When a unit is referred to a partner, we share only the appliance details, the fault description and the intake reference needed to complete the task.

Partners are expected to handle the information in line with this policy and with applicable privacy law. They are not permitted to use the details for their own marketing or to add the customer to unrelated mailing lists. Where a partner needs to contact you directly, we will tell you first and explain why.

Suppliers of consumables and replacement parts receive order details rather than customer details. Warehouse and courier companies receive shipping information for parts that are delivered to the workshop, and those details are business contact information rather than personal information about a household.

We review our partner relationships periodically. If a partner cannot meet the standard described here, we stop referring work to that partner and look for an alternative.

9. Payment Information

We accept payment by the methods listed on the invoice, which may include card, bank transfer and cash. Card payments are processed by a payment provider that is responsible for handling the card number and security code. Dez Appliances Inc. receives only an approval reference, the amount and the date, and that reference is stored with the invoice record.

We do not write card numbers onto paper, we do not store them in email, and we do not keep them in the bench archive. If a refund is needed, it is issued through the same provider against the original reference, which means the provider receives the information needed to complete the refund.

Bank transfer details are recorded on the invoice or on a separate remittance note. Those details are business payment information and are used to reconcile the payment against the job. Records of payments are retained for the period required by accounting and tax rules.

10. Cookies and Local Storage

This website is deliberately light. It does not run advertising networks, it does not embed social media tracking and it does not build a profile of your browsing. The site may use a small amount of local storage in your browser to remember whether a menu or an accordion was open during your visit. That information stays on your device and is not sent to us.

The hosting service that delivers the pages may set a technical cookie for security or load balancing. Such a cookie does not identify you and is not used for marketing. If you block cookies in your browser settings, the pages will still load and the service information will still be available.

Where a future version of the site introduces a feature that needs a cookie for a clear purpose, this policy will be updated before that feature is switched on, and the change will be described in the section on changes to this policy.

11. How Long We Keep Records

We keep service records for as long as they are useful for the work and for the obligations that follow it. In practice that means the following periods.

When a retention period ends, records are destroyed in a way that makes them unreadable. Paper records are shredded and digital records are deleted from the bench archive and from backups as those backups roll over. If a record is subject to a legal hold or an open dispute, it is kept until the matter is resolved and then handled under the normal schedule.

12. How We Protect Information

The bench archive is kept in a locked cabinet on the workshop floor, and digital records are held in accounts protected by individual passwords and multi factor sign in. Only staff who need a record for service, warranty or accounting work can open it. Access is removed when a person leaves the team.

Photographs taken at intake are stored with the service record and are not published. They are used to document condition, to check a delivery and to support a warranty discussion. If a photo shows a person, which is rare, it is treated as sensitive and is not shared outside the bench without a clear reason.

The workshop also applies ordinary physical precautions. Paper sheets do not leave the floor without a reason, desks are cleared at the end of the day, and delivery paperwork is signed in rather than left in a van. If a breach occurs, we investigate promptly, limit the impact, and notify affected people and the relevant authority where the law requires it.

13. Your Rights

You have the right to be told what personal information we hold about you and why we hold it. You have the right to ask for a copy of that information. You have the right to ask for a correction when something is wrong. You have the right to withdraw consent to handling that depends on consent, although that may mean we cannot continue a service that relies on the information.

You may also ask us to delete information that is no longer needed, and you may ask questions about how a particular record was used. Where a request concerns a record that we are legally required to keep, we will explain the requirement and keep the record for the required period while limiting its use.

We will not treat a request for access or correction as a reason to end a service or to change the standard of care. Every customer is entitled to ask, and every request is handled in the same orderly way.

14. Access and Correction Requests

To ask for access or correction, write to note@dezappliances.lat or send a letter to Dez Appliances Inc. at Suite 3, 801 West 1st St, North Vancouver - V7P 1A4, Canada (CA). Please include your name, the intake reference or invoice number if you have one, and a clear description of the record you are asking about.

We will confirm that we received the request and will normally respond within thirty days. If a request is complex, we will explain why and give a revised date. If we cannot provide a record, we will explain the reason, for example that the record belongs to another person or that a legal restriction applies.

There is normally no charge for a first access request. If a request requires extensive copying or search work, we will tell you the estimated cost before any work is done and will ask for your approval. Correction requests are handled free of charge.

15. Privacy for Children

Our services are arranged by adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children through this website. If a young person contacts the bench about a household appliance, we will ask that an adult take part in the arrangement before a collection or delivery is booked.

Information about a child may appear incidentally in a household record, for example when an access note says that a child will answer the door. We ask customers not to include such details unless they are needed on the day, and staff are instructed not to record more than the access plan requires.

If you believe that a child has provided personal information to us without adult involvement, contact note@dezappliances.lat and we will remove the information unless there is a lawful reason to keep it.

16. Messages and Marketing Choices

We contact customers about the work they have asked for. That includes appointment confirmations, diagnosis updates, parts lead times, delivery scheduling and invoice reminders. These messages are part of the service and are sent by phone, email or text depending on the detail we hold.

We do not run a general marketing list, and we do not send promotional messages to people who have simply visited the website. If we ever introduce a seasonal note about bench availability or a reminder about filter changes, it will be sent only to customers who have opted in, and every such message will include a way to stop receiving it.

You can change your preferred contact method at any time. If you would rather receive only email, or only a phone call at a particular part of the day, tell us and we will record the preference on the job file.

17. Links to Other Sites

This website may link to pages operated by others, for example a manufacturer support page or a building information site. Those pages are governed by their own privacy policies, and we have no control over how they collect or use information.

We choose links with care and review them when the site is updated, but a link is not an endorsement of every practice on the destination page. If you follow a link, read the privacy information on that page before submitting any personal details.

Our own pages are served from a single domain, and we do not place tracking pixels or invisible images from third parties on them. If that changes, this policy will be updated first.

18. Changes to This Policy

We review this policy when the bench introduces a new service, when a supplier or partner arrangement changes, or when the law requires an update. The date at the top of the page shows when the current version was published.

If a change affects how existing service records are used, we will describe the change in this section and, where appropriate, contact customers who are directly affected. We will not apply a new use to an old record without a lawful basis for doing so.

Older versions of the policy are kept with the bench archive so that we can explain how information was handled at the time a service took place. You may ask for a copy of an earlier version if you need one.

19. How to Reach Us

Questions about this policy, requests for access or correction, and any concern about the handling of personal information should be directed to the bench. We treat privacy questions as part of ordinary service and we answer them in plain language.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia. We will cooperate with any review and will provide the records needed for it.

This policy is provided by Dez Appliances Inc. and applies to the service bench operated under the developer name Dez Appliances at the North Vancouver workshop.

20. Cameras and Workshop Safety

The workshop entrance and the loading platform carry fixed cameras that record the arrival and departure of appliances. The purpose is narrow: to confirm the condition of a unit at handover, to protect staff during a difficult delivery and to support an insurance claim if equipment is damaged. Recordings are held for a short period and are not used to monitor visitors beyond the doorway.

If a recording captures a relevant part of a service dispute, the footage is saved with the job file and handled under the same retention schedule as the service sheet. Recordings that are not relevant are overwritten on the normal cycle and are never shared with a third party for any other purpose.

21. Transport and Collection Records

When an appliance is collected from a home or delivered to one, the crew records a route note that includes the address, the time window, the intake reference and any access detail that was needed on the day. The note is used to confirm that a person was present, that the appliance left in the condition recorded at intake and that the delivery sitting was completed.

Route notes are kept with the bench archive and are not used to build a map of customer homes or to plan marketing. They are reviewed during warranty discussions and are destroyed under the same schedule as the service sheet. If a customer asks for a copy of the route note for a delivery that affected them, the request is handled like any other access request.

22. Complaints and Privacy Concerns

If a customer is unhappy with how information was handled, the first step is to contact the bench directly. Most concerns are about a detail that can be corrected quickly, such as an address that was written down incorrectly or a name that was recorded in the wrong form. We accept those corrections without argument and we update the record.

Where a concern needs more investigation, we open a file and describe what happened, who handled the information and what action was taken. The customer receives a written summary of the outcome. If the concern is not resolved to the customer satisfaction, the summary explains how to raise the matter with the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia.

We keep complaints under review because patterns matter. If several concerns point to the same weak step, such as how access notes are passed to a delivery crew, we change the step rather than asking customers to live with it.
